About us

A platform for birth workers.
Built by a family who lives it.

We're Stef and Chris: a doula who used to be a financial consultant, and a doctor who builds software. DoulaOne is the calm, connected workspace we wished existed when Stef started her own practice.

Our story

Before we built
DoulaOne…

Stef spent years as a financial consultant, helping businesses understand their numbers. Then she became a mum, and then a doula.

She loved the work. She was less in love with everything that came with it. Enquiries scattered across Instagram, email and WhatsApp. Contracts sent as PDFs and chased for signatures. Deposits tracked in a spreadsheet, and invoices written at the kitchen table long after the boys were asleep.

And all around her, brilliant doulas were undercharging, giving up an evening a week to admin, or juggling five different apps that were never designed for birth work. With her consultant's eye, she could see exactly where the time and money were leaking out.

Chris could see it too, from across the same table. As a doctor who builds software, he'd spent years making apps for healthcare, and knew what it takes to handle sensitive information properly. So, in the evenings, we started building the tool Stef wished she had.

That tool became DoulaOne: clients, contracts, forms, bookings, invoices and payments in one calm place, shaped by a doula who uses it every week and a doctor who knows why the details matter.

Why we're here

Less time on admin.
More time for the families you support.

Meet the founders

A doula and a doctor.
One kitchen table.

Two very different careers, one shared belief: the people who care for others deserve tools that care for them.

Stef

Co-founder · Doula · Former financial consultant

Stef supports families through pregnancy, birth and the early weeks, and knows the on-call life first-hand: the bag by the door, the phone on loud, the invoice that still hasn't gone out.

Before birth work she was a financial consultant, so she looks at a practice the way an adviser would: what you charge, what actually comes in, and what quietly slips away each month. She's also a mum of two boys, and shares the honest, everyday side of motherhood with a community of parents online. Many of the questions that shape DoulaOne start in her messages.

What Stef brings

  • Pricing, packages and getting paid on time
  • The day-to-day reality of on-call birth work
  • What parents look for when they choose a doula

Chris

Co-founder · Doctor · Developer

Chris is a doctor with a background in software, and has spent years designing and building apps for healthcare. He leads how DoulaOne is built, and still writes a good share of it himself.

Medicine taught him that good systems protect people: clear records, careful handling of private information, and nothing lost between one appointment and the next. He builds DoulaOne the same way, so the families you support are looked after on screen as well as in the room.

What Chris brings

  • Privacy and security for sensitive health information
  • Years of building apps for the health sector
  • A clinician's eye for safe, clear records

The DoulaOne way

What we believe,
and how we build.

The principles behind every decision we make about DoulaOne.

  1. 01

    Admin gives time back

Every feature has to save you time, not add a new job. If it doesn't free up part of your evening, it doesn't ship.

  2. 02

    Get paid properly

Clear packages, deposits that arrive, balances that chase themselves. Stef's finance years are in every invoice.

  3. 03

    Private by design

Birth work is personal. Chris builds DoulaOne the way he'd want his own patients' records handled.

  4. 04

    A person replies

When you write to us, one of us reads it and writes back. No ticket numbers, no bots pretending to be people.

Who we are

Three things
to know about us.

  1. 01

    We're 100% self-funded

No investors and no outside shareholders. DoulaOne is paid for by us and by the birth workers who subscribe. That means we answer to you, and we grow at the pace that's right for the people using it, not the pace of a funding round.

  2. 02

    We're a family business

We're raising two young sons while we build DoulaOne, so we design for real life: short evenings, interrupted afternoons and a phone in one hand. If something can't be done quickly between other things, we keep working on it.

  3. 03

    We still do the work

Stef runs her own doula practice on DoulaOne, and Chris still practises medicine. New features meet real families and real on-call weeks before they ever reach yours.

Built alongside you

You're not
just an account.

Many of DoulaOne's features started as a suggestion from a birth worker. We read every message ourselves, and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.

Tell us what slows your practice down. There's a good chance it slowed Stef down too.

Where we are

One home,
wherever you work.

DoulaOne supports birth workers in the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

Each region gets local pricing, local spelling and, where it's available, a public directory that helps families find the right support nearby.
