Shannon Whitlock Doula

I’m Shannon and I’m a birth doula based in Huntingdonshire. I support birthing people and their families across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire through pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period. As long as you’re (roughly) within an hour of my front door, I can provide in person support. And if you’re not? I also offer virtual support too so location isn’t a barrier.

I’m also an AuDHD parent of 4 neurodivergent kids and wife of one ADHD riddled husband. I also had a VBA3C in 2023. The way I work is starting to make sense now isn’t it?

The experience of being a neurodivergent pregnant woman as well as fighting for 3 VBACs (but only having one) not only led me down the path of becoming a doula but it shaped how I show up for every family I work with.

I know what it feels like to be infantilised by a medical professional. To be made to feel that you’re making a stupid decision. To not understand or remember all of the information that’s fired at you in a 10 minute appointment and then wonder why you agreed to something you shouldn’t have. I also know the HUGE difference having someone who is truly in your corner makes, not only to the outcome of the birth, but how you feel before and after as well.

I specialise in supporting neurodivergent birthing families (officially diagnosed or not) and VBAC families including vaginal birth after multiple caesareans and home birth after caesarean. I also support people who are navigating pregnancy after a previous difficult birth experience or anyone who wants genuinely good support that’s built around them.

My role isn’t to tell you what to do or to influence your decisions. It's to make sure nobody talks you out of what you want or talks you into what they want, whatever that turns out to be.
