About

Hi, I’m Karina, founder of The Kente & Karing Doulas. I’m a Birth and Postnatal Doula, Maternity Nurse and experienced Maternity Support Worker with over 18 years of experience supporting women, babies and families both within the NHS and privately.

My approach to birth and postnatal support is warm, nurturing, culturally sensitive and centred around you. I believe every woman deserves to feel heard, respected and supported in making informed choices about her pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey.

Over the years, I have supported families through many different experiences, including physiological birth, caesarean birth, VBAC, pregnancy after loss, complex pregnancies, challenging birth experiences and the transition into life with a newborn. I also have extensive experience with newborn care, infant feeding support and overnight postnatal care.

For me, being a doula is about more than being present at a birth. It’s about creating a safe space where you can ask questions without judgement, understand your options, build confidence in your own voice and feel genuinely cared for. I work alongside partners too, helping them feel confident and included so that support surrounds the whole family.

My own experiences of motherhood, alongside nearly two decades of professional maternity care, have shaped the way I work. I understand that no two families, pregnancies or births are the same, so my support is always individual rather than one-size-fits-all.

Through The Kente & Karing Doulas, I offer birth doula support, antenatal preparation, postnatal support, newborn care, overnight maternity care and virtual doula support across London and selected areas of Surrey.

My aim is simple: for you to feel informed, nurtured, listened to and supported throughout your journey into parenthood.
