Mother Nesty, Nesty Birth and Beyond

I know I could scale Mount Everest in a raincoat and it wouldn't come close to how incredible I felt after giving birth to my first child.

When I found out I was pregnant, I was terrified of giving birth. But through preparation and taking responsibility for my choices, I went to have a birth experience that transformed my relationship with my body and my identity.

After such an experience I expected to find a community of women who felt the same. Instead, time and again, I heard from women left traumatised by their births. I realised it wasn't about how their baby arrived - it was whether they felt like an active participant, or whether things were done to them and they didn't understand why. That's why I became a doula.

What makes the difference is preparation:

• •understanding the system you're walking into
• •unpicking the evidence behind the interventions you may be offered
• •practising the words you'll use with healthcare professionals before you're saying them under pressure.

I will be your facilitator through this preparation. I won't speak for you or decide for you. My goal is to prepare you so well that you don't feel like you need me in that room, whether it be at your home, in a birth centre, in a delivery suite, or even a theatre if you so choose.

My practice is evidence-based and trauma-informed through my training with The Original Birth Connection, The HypnoBirthing Institute, and my education and background in healthcare research. LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent families are warmly welcome.

I am based in Shooters Hill and can travel up to around 12 miles - covering home births and hospitals including Queen Elizabeth, Lewisham, King's, Princess Royal, St Thomas', The Royal London and Darent Valley.
