About this event
The Whole Shebang
With Natalie Mosson-Kelly, NMC registered midwife
I'm a midwife. I've seen where hypnobirthing-only courses leave gaps, and where traditional antenatal classes leave people with basic info but not how to cope with what comes.
The Whole Shebang exists because I don't want people to have to choose between doing two separate courses. You don't have the time for that when you're already so busy managing day-to-day life as it is!
So I've built the course that I wish everyone I looked after had, from everything I've seen in the labour ward across countless births - not just theory. The course that gives you it all in one place.
This is a complete antenatal, birth and postnatal preparation course across four sessions, blending the calm and coping tools of hypnobirthing with the "what's going on" explanations of a traditional antenatal class.
Session 1: The Mindset Bit Here we talk about what hypnobirthing is, the fear-tension-pain cycle, hormones, and how to influence our mindset going into birth.
Session 2: The Toolkit Bit Here we talk about all of our hypnobirthing techniques including relaxation techniques. We also discuss how to make informed choices, navigating the maternity system, and your rights during pregnancy and childbirth.
Session 3: The Birth Bit Here we get into the nitty gritty! We're talking about labour - the stages of labour, common pain relief options, interventions, breathing, and writing a birth plan.
Session 4: The After Bit In this session, we go in depth on all things fourth trimester. Feeding, recovery, mental health, baby care, and a session delivered by Lauren from Little Lifesavers on infant CPR and choking - skills you don't want to use but absolutely should learn.
What's included:
- Four x 3-hour sessions at the beautiful Moon Rooms, Newton Mearns
- In-depth, evidence-based clinical information given by a registered midwife
