Jane was very encouraging with our agreed affirmations. She used her tens machine on me and was helping hands on, applying pressure to my hips and rebozo techniques. She helped me move into different positions and at one point carried my full weight as I leaned on her through contractions. She helped speak (advocated) for me to the midwife when we had to go through some tough decisions. Jane made sure that the outcome of the birth was as close to our original plan as possible. She arrived with lovely lights and other bits to make the environment calming and beautiful. She was so so kind and smiley and encouraging and such a pleasure to have in my space during such a vulnerable time, a very trustworthy and professional woman.

If you could sum up in a single paragraph what it was like working with your doula, what would you say?

Jane's presence feels like a warm embrace. She listened to what mattered most to me for my birth offering gentle, balanced guidance every step of the way. I always felt supported and heard, and she became a strong, compassionate advocate for the birth plan we created together.

Jane was a wonderful support throughout my pregnancy and birth journey. She is a warm, caring and reassuring person, and I found her calm, motherly presence incredibly valuable.

We completed hypnobirthing sessions online and had an in person birth planning session, which I found really helpful. As my pregnancy progressed and some complications arose from around 36 weeks, Jane was available by phone to talk through options, revisit my birth preferences, and help me feel more informed and confident in my decision making.

My labour ended up being very fast, and because Jane had quite a distance to travel, she arrived shortly before the birth itself. Although she wasn’t present for much of the labour, she was there for the pushing stage and stayed afterwards while I had my stitches and fed my baby, which I appreciated.

While much of our contact was by phone or online due to distance, I always found Jane approachable, knowledgeable and supportive. She genuinely seems to care and I am grateful for the support she provided during such an important time. 🙏”
